Signus renews its collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation for a third successive year
For the third year in a row, the collective used tyres management system, Signus, has renewed its collaboration agreement with the Real Madrid Foundation. The Foundation's executive vice-president Enrique Sánchez welcomed Gabriel Leal, director general of Signus, to the Auditorium at Real Madrid City to sign the renewal agreement between the two organisations.
The deal will help to sustain the Real Madrid Foundation's social sports school specialising in wheelchair basketball based in Getafe. This year, it is being run at the CEIP Jorge Guillén and caters for ten young people with physical and mental disabilities, between 8 and 20 years of age. Signus has shown great commitment to the program with various visits to the beneficiaries.
Collaboration
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, was in attendance at the event and he reflected: "This collaboration with Signus not only brings sustainability to the Foundation's wheelchair basketball school in Getafe, but the club's Corporate Social Responsibility department is also taking measures to recycle the little rubber balls which are used for cushioning on the recycled artificial grass football pitches. That is important in and of itself, but also in terms of raising awareness among the academy and all the teams who come and play on the pitches at Real Madrid City”.
Meanwhile, the Signus director general added: “It's crucial that we are responsible and avoid the spread of the recycled rubber from artificial grass pitches. Using the containers we are going to install in the dressing rooms, players will come to understand the importance of emptying out the rubber balls from their boots to ensure they don't end up where they shouldn't”.
Environmental contribution
Some three years ago, the collective used tyres management system, Signus, joined other organisations which, working in the field of circular economy, also collaborate with the Real Madrid Foundation's projects on education in values through sport, such as the social sports football and basketball schools, understanding that education in respect for the environment is key in building a better world.
