Real Madrid Foundation, Pedro Jaén Foundation and Good Samaritan Foundation launch agreement for Tanzania
NEWS.
Real Madrid's director of football, Santiago Solari, welcomed a visit to Real Madrid City by a group from the Pedro Jaén Foundation, led by its president, and Gileard Masenga, executive director of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center KCMC, to introduce the collaboration between the two foundations.

The aim of the project, which began last season with a clinic in Moshi, Tanzania, is to promote the solidarity project "Africa in the skin", developed by the Pedro Jaén Foundation. This initiative helps children with albinism and xeroderma pigmentosum to be integrated through the development of a social sports school of football for integration that encourages and promotes the practice of sports for children with this particular genetic condition.

This project intends to create an inclusive environment where children can feel like children and not like patients, and will be undertaken together with the Good Samaritan Foundation part of the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Tanzania, through the Regional Dermatology Training Centre.

Solari: "Health can improve by doing sport"
Santiago Solari stated that "sometimes one's health, disability or condition can be improved by playing sport and, more importantly, for children, belonging to a team will complete their life experience and human formation". Gileard Masenga declared: "To carry out this project with a world-class organisation such as Real Madrid via its Foundation, and to have the Pedro Jaén Foundation collaborate with us, who have been involved for so many years in the care of children with albinism and xeroderma pigmentosum, represents a huge opportunity to raise the profile of these issues. Most importantly, it is very valuable for the children to forget about their illness for a while and live as children, not as patients".

Dr. Pedro Jaén explained: "This agreement makes us very happy and gives us a great sense of responsibility, as we have the duty to meet the enthusiasm and expectations of all those who are part of Africa in the skin in this project, which aims to help more and more children in a country where it is not at all easy for them".

Project
The social sports school will promote social inclusion and offer the children with albinism and xeroderma pigmentosum opportunities to develop their skills with confidence and in a safe environment. It will also highlight the importance of healthy habits and education. Children will receive training in sporting values and academic support to improve their personal and sporting skills.

Accessible to children from different communities
Delivered by qualified coaches and educators developed by the Real Madrid Foundation, the programme will be tailored to the local context to ensure maximum impact and sustainability and began with an online training session in September and a face-to-face training session in November. The social sports school for football is based at Mwereni Primary School, a school close to the hospital, and will be open to children from different communities. The Pedro Jaén Foundation and the Real Madrid Foundation are both committed to the sustainability of the project and to measuring its impact on the lives of the children involved.
