Medical Service Care extends collaboration with Real Madrid Foundation
There are currently three versions of the basketball in hospitals program underway.
The Real Madrid Foundation and Medical Service Care renewed their collaboration agreement which covers the basketball in hospitals program in Madrid. Enrique Sánchez, executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation, and José Muriana, CEO of Medical Service Care, signed the deal at an event held in the auditorium at Real Madrid City, attended by Real Madrid and Foundation ambassador Álvaro Arbeloa.
This agreement, which began in the 2018-19 campaign, sees the company specialising in the integral management of medical services, support the Real Madrid Foundation's social sports program at the San Rafael and Vianorte-Laguna hospitals, which specialise in palliative care. This season, there is also a physical activity program underway in basketball at the Pradera de San Isidro educational-therapeutic centre in Madrid, a teaching department linked to the Mental Health Unit of the 12 de Octubre University Hospital which provides the comprehensive care necessary for patients with severe mental illness.
Álvaro Arbeloa reflected: “I would like to thank Medical Service Care for its support which allows the Real Madrid Foundation to continue working every week in hospitals to help and motivate suffering children". José Muriana added: “At Medical Service Care, we want to extend our collaboration in order to deal with the severe mental health issues brought on by the pandemic”.
Collaboration with hospitals
The Real Madrid Foundation's basketball in hospitals program is a weekly activity which visits public and private centres in collaboration with hospitals and medical bodies. Using a range of leisure and educational materials it not only gives the patients something to do, but also works on boosting their morale during their leisure time at the hospital.
