La Obra del Padre Mario Pantaleo renews partnership with Real Madrid Foundation
The Alfredo Di Stéfano socio-sporting school in Argentina, which caters for 350 participants, was the Foundation's first overseas project.
The executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation, Enrique Sánchez, and Real Madrid's director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, welcomed Carlos Garavelli, president of the Presbítero José Mario Pantaleo Foundation, to Real Madrid City to renew the parternship agreement between the two organisations. This link-up, which dates back to the 2003/04 season, resulted in the opening of the Alfredo Di Stéfano socio-sporting school, located in the town of González Catán, in the province of Buenos Aires.
The project, which caters for 350 children and young people in this area of the Argentine capital, features weekly values-based football and basketball training sessions that are based on the Real Madrid Foundation's Por una educación REAL: Valores y deporte For a REAL education: values and sport methodology. The training sessions represent part of a holistic project that also includes classes to boost academic performance, nutritional support,, health check-ups and IT classes, among other activities.
During his address, Butragueño, who visited the project in 2013, underscored the significance of the project, which was the Real Madrid Foundation's first overseas initiative and which 19 years after its launch still fulfils a function: "It changes lives and that's our main aim: to improve the lives of the most needy through values-based football and basketball".
Meanwhile, Garavelli shared his memories of when Alfredo Di Stéfano visited to open the school: "It was, without question, the approval of the effort we had put in and the massive support that the Real Madrid Foundation offered us at that stage and that it has continued to give us, so thank you all very much".

The La Obra del Padre Mario will host its 2nd Fundraising Dinner at Madrid's The Knife restaurant on 14 June at 9pm CET. The charity event is open to anyone to take part and support the organisation's projects, which include the socio-sporting school.
