Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, welcomed Romina Lorenzo, UPS Iberia Country Manager, to the Real Madrid City auditorium in order to announce the extension of the strategic alliance for 2024 between the UPS Foundation and the Real Madrid Foundation, strengthening their commitment to support more than 1,500 children and young people at risk of exclusion across Europe.

Romina Lorenzo explained: "At UPS we firmly believe that by joining forces with a global partner such as the Real Madrid Foundation, together we can build a better future not only for children, but for society at large. This collaboration gives us the opportunity to put into action our commitment to improve the lives of those who will build our future: young people.

Butragueño said: " We are grateful to UPS, as an organisation committed to social development, for supporting our education in values through sport project across Europe with the aim of achieving the inclusion of all children, regardless of their socio-economic background, and improving their quality of life.

The partnership will be extended this year to two new countries, Poland and Ukraine, as well as continuing its work in Spain, Portugal, Romania and the United Kingdom, strengthening significantly its collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation. The UPS Foundation and UPS will also serve as the main sponsors of the 11th edition of the Copa Alma, the social sports tournament organised by the Real Madrid Foundation for its international social sports schools.

More than 1,000 recipients
Over the course of 2023, as a result of this partnership, more than 1,000 underprivileged children have already benefited from the Real Madrid Foundation's social sports schools projects. The target for this year has been expanded to help more than 1,500 people, providing learning and development opportunities and promoting inclusion, while always keeping a solid educational foundation.

UPS has been working in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation since 2016. The partnership will carry out several projects in Spain and Portugal this year, including nine basketball projects in Spain (three wheelchair basketball schools, in partnership with Signus, and six basketball schools in foster homes) and a social sports school in Guimarães, in cooperation with the Clube Alma Branca Association.
