Real Madrid ambassador, Felipe Reyes, took his place alongside Onil 3x3 basketball player Javier Huertas to present the Foundation's inaugural 3x3 basketball charity cup. The event was also attended by the manager of the Corte Inglés store in Sanchinarro, Juan Francisco Ramos. The tournament will be run in conjunction with the El Corte Inglés in Sanchinarro Madrid over the opening weekend of April.
Almost 500 participants are due to take part in a competition that seeks to offer an example of sustainability with the use of recycled nets and will feature appearances from leading names in this sector of basketball, which is more dynamic and urban and is currently experiencing a boom.
Reyes commented that: 'This first charity cup brings together the fun of playing basketball with a charity cause to help those most in need'. For his part, Huertas noted that 'Street basketball has evolved into 3x3, which is establishing itself as an easy-access sport in any setting.' Meanwhile, Ramos declared that, 'We at the Corte Inglés in Sanchinarro are delighted to host this kind of event and are pleased for the neighbourhood, our customers and because we've got a youthful customer base who enjoy these kinds of activities'.
