Colegio Cervantes renews its collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation
The Real Madrid Foundation and the Colegio Español Cervantes renewed their collaboration agreement for the running of the José Emilio Santamaría social sports school in Montevideo Uruguay. Enrique Sánchez, executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation, and Carlos Cambón, director of Colegio Cervantes, signed the deal at a ceremony held in the auditorium at Real Madrid City. The event was attended by Real Madrid legend José Emilio Santamaría and Álvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid and Foundation ambassador.
Thanks to the agreement, which began in 2008, over 150 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17 benefit every year, learning football, basketball and values in the twice-weekly sessions at the sports facilities of the Colegio Cervantes. Besides sporting practice, the children receive talks given by psychologists and nutritionists on topics such as bullying and good health. The values instilled at the social sports schools are also extended to all leisure activities carried out at the centre throughout the season.
Álvaro Arbeloa explained: “Yours was the first Foundation school to resume its activities in person following lockdown and we couldn't wait for you to be able to travel so you could come and see us”. Carlos Cambón reflected: “We're extremely thankful for the work done and support shown by the Real Madrid Foundation”.
