Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations, and Jacobo Muñoz, Medical Director of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Spain, have renewed the organisations' agreement for the seventh consecutive year in order to promote the ‘Don’t get caught offside’ campaign, aimed at encouraging prostate cancer prevention and early detection, and promoting an active lifestyle through the Real Madrid Foundation's physical fitness program for seniors.

This collaboration, which has grown since its launch in 2019, has been renewed every November to coincide with Movember, the month dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health. The goal is to make more men aware of the importance of attending regular check-ups to detect prostate cancer early from the age of 50, or earlier if there is a family history or risk factors.

As Johnson & Johnson and the Real Madrid Foundation emphasise, getting these urological check-ups is a fundamental part of healthy habits and good care for middle-aged men. The framework of this agreement also underlines the importance of active aging, fostering healthy living through sport.

Butragueño: “This alliance reiterates a shared commitment”
“It's an honour to mark the renewal of the agreement between the Real Madrid Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, a global leader in health and wellness. This alliance reiterates a shared commitment: to improve the quality of life of older people and promote preventive initiatives that can make a real difference in our society.”

Jacobo Muñoz: “A timely diagnosis can change the course of prostate cancer”
“We know that regular check-ups are key to early detection and that a timely diagnosis can change the course of prostate cancer. This collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation allows us to deliver this important message to men and society as a whole. That's why we are so proud to continue renewing this alliance, inspired by our commitment to patients to drive real transformation in their health and quality of life.”

The most common form of cancer among Spanish men
Prostate cancer is a disease in which atypical, abnormal, and uncontrolled, malignant cellular transformation occurs in the prostate cells. This year alone, it is estimated that more than 32,000 new cases of this type of cancer will be diagnosed in Spain, making it the most common among Spanish men. In fact, it is estimated that one in five men will be diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime, with the risk increasing after the age of 50.

Early detection and timely action are essential, as the chances of cure increase when prostate cancer is detected promptly. In the early stages of the disease, when the cancer is localised, the five-year survival rate is 96.8% and remains at 95% over the next 10–15 years.
