Butragueño attends tribute to Pedro Ferrándiz in Alicante
“He's recognised around the world, he was a visionary and his legacy will live on forever', he reflected about the former honorary member of our club and international basketball legend.
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño attended the Campo a Campo Forum organised by the Información newspaper at the Teatro Principal in Alicante in tribute to Pedro Ferrándiz. The former honorary member of Real Madrid, one of the club's greatest legends and an international basketball superstar passed away on 7 July 2022.
Butragueño thanked the city of Alicante for the warmth and respect they have shown Ferrándiz: “Nothing at Real Madrid or in the game of basketball would have been the same without him. He's recognised around the world, he was a visionary and his legacy will live on forever. As our president has said about him time and again, Pedro Ferrándiz embodies all the values that Real Madrid stands for and will forever advocate as an institution". Carlos Mazón, head of the Alicante City Council, underlined that Ferrándiz “brought his madridismo to Alicante and asserted his love for Alicante in Madrid”. The city's mayor Luis Barcala closed out the ceremony by presenting Pedro Ferrándiz's brother Antonio with a plaque which acknowledges the madridista legend as an honorary citizen of the city.
