Real Madrid ambassador and Under-19s coach Álvaro Arbeloa paid a visit to the football and values social sports school run by the Real Madrid Foundation in Leganés Madrid yesterday. Accompanied by the 'la Caixa' Foundation's Area Sales Manager for Territorial Management and Centres, Alejandro Fernández de las Peñas, they were greeted by the town's mayor, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, and the Councillor for Sports, Clara Polonio.

Now in its eleventh season, the school caters for almost a hundred boys and girls. Recuenco pointed out that this centre is an example of collaboration between institutions. Alejandro Fernández de las Peñas explained: 'Our main objective at the 'la Caixa' Foundation is to build a fairer society. For this reason, we encourage the Real Madrid Foundation and its social sports schools, which promote the values of sport and equal opportunities for children and young people in vulnerable situations'.

Arbeloa spoke to the school's pupils: 'It's important that all the values of team sport that you learn by playing during each training session become part of your daily lives off the pitch, so that you can grow up as well-rounded individuals'.

The Leganés school
The Real Madrid Foundation's social sports schools, such as the one in Leganés, are designed to offer football to all those who want to play, regardless of their circumstances or abilities, in order to educate them in values through sport. The collaboration between the Foundation and the Department of Social Services and Sports, supported by the 'la Caixa' Foundation, enables them to enjoy football as a vehicle for learning and integration, the keys to coexistence.
