Arbeloa kicks off the Foundation's 1st World Challenge
Thirty teams coming from the Foundation's educational programmes come together at Real Madrid City.
The first edition of the World Challenge Fundación Real Madrid kicks off at Real Madrid City. Organised in collaboration with Kaptiva Sports, this week's tournament is bringing together youngsters from Japan, the United States, Canada, Uruguay and the Dutch Antilles, all of whom took part in the Foundation's clinics last summer. The matches will also feature children from the Foundation's socio-sports schools in Spain, making up a unique mix of players from different areas of the Foundation's educational and sporting programmes around the world.
Real Madrid ambassador Álvaro Arbeloa welcomed the teams to Real Madrid City with a speech emphasising the importance of sharing common values such as respect, fair play, teamwork, motivation, desire to improve, etc. Arbeloa pointed out that this is a major milestone as those taking part in the clinics are in direct contact with coaches from the Real Madrid Foundation for a very short period of time and "it is something new to see how different groups of players work together using the Foundation's unique and pioneering methodology, generating a stronger bond between them".
Sharing experiences
The Real Madrid Foundation's World Challenge has its own unique rules in accordance with the project For a Real Education: Values and Sport the Foundation's educational methodology, which considers competition as a way of sharing values via football. Therefore, as well as putting into practice what they have learnt in the clinics, which are an educational experience of technical improvement, with the technical-tactical foundation of the Real Madrid youth academy, it will be a day of sharing and enjoying their favourite sport together.
