The Real Madrid Foundation held its fifth Charity Race by Unicaja Banco in Alhaurín de la Torre Málaga. Almost a thousand runners turned up to take part in the race to support the Foundation's social sports projects. Joaquín Villanova, mayor of Alhaurín de la Torre, sounded the starting gun for the event which was attended by the local Minister for Sport, María del Mar Martínez; and Ana Echenique, head of Board of Directors at Unicaja Banco.
 
Beatriz Jiménez 43’14’’, Lynn Chislett 45’16’’ and Margarita Fernández 45’49’’ were the fastest finishers in the women's 10 km, while for the men, Kamed Mohamed Mizzian 34’01’’, José Antonio Urbaneja 34’01’’ and José Antonio Gutiérrez 36’02’’ were first to the line. The pace in the women's 5 km race was set by Marina Jiménez 19’45’’, Bella Bayliss 20’11’’ and Ana Fernández 22’22’’, while Stephen Bayliss 17’32’’, Hugo Márquez 18’54’’ and Rafa Moreno 18’57’’ topped the charts for the men.
 
There was a family, festival atmosphere at the event which also had races for younger children, with distances from 400 to 1,500 metres. It was also run as an inclusive space thanks to the support of Asociaciones Divers@s from Alhaurín de la Torre and IES Galileo, who work towards inclusivity for individuals with functional diversity.
 
Social sports projects
The proceeds from the race will go to the Real Madrid Foundation's social sports programs aimed at catering for diversity. The event was organised in collaboration with a range of organisations alongside Unicaja Banco as the main sponsor: The Alhaurín de la Torre Town Council sports department, GSK-Inmunofitness, C.D. Alpino Jarapalos, Coca Cola and Solán de Cabras.
