Real Madrid C. F., its president and board of directors are saddened to hear of the passing of Guillermo Timoner, a legend of Spanish and world track cycling and the first Spanish cyclist to be crowned world champion.
 
Real Madrid extends its condolences and support to his family and all of his loved ones.
 
Guillermo Timoner is an icon of one of the great eras in Spanish sport, being crowned world champion on six occasions.
 
He was also head coach of the Spanish track cycling team from 1971 until 1978, taking part in the Munich Olympic Games in 1972.
 
Guillermo Timoner, who has passed away at 97 years of age, was inducted to the Royal Order of Sporting Merit in 2003. Sport in Spain and worldwide is saddened by his loss. May he rest in peace.
