Chus Mateo: “We're at a club that always aspires to the very best”
“We have to keep working to be at the level required when the first trophy of the season is in play," said Llull ahead of the friendly against Varese (Saturday, 7:30 pm CEST).
Chus Mateo and Sergio Llull spoke in the build-up to the last pre-season friendly that sees Real Madrid face Varese in Menorca (Saturday, 7:30pm CEST). The coach underlined: “Our preparations continue. Every training session is vital and this warm-up game, even more so. It's a new venue for us against opposition we don't know, and I'm sure they'll pose problems we're not used to. It's always good to compete to win games. We're at a club that always aspires to the very best."
Llull: “I'm happy to be back playing in Menorca and for Real Madrid”
“We have to keep up with the work we're doing. We're just starting out and it's to be expected that certain concepts still need attention and sometimes your legs aren't quite there yet. It's a process and we're going to try and deliver a good performance. I hope people have a good time and we can continue to get in shape."
“The team is in good shape, it's week two of pre-season. We're still missing certain things, the new guys are doing all they can to adapt and we're trying to help them all we can to settle in. We have to keep working to be at the level required when the first trophy of the season is in play. We're excited, we can't wait to play that match in Murcia. We will try and do our best to retain the Super Cup."
Special game
“Coming back to play in Menorca, my home, with Real Madrid, is a very special moment for me and I can't wait for the game to start."
