Chus Mateo: “We're still on a good competitive level”
'We've had such a busy month, with so much strain, we responded well to a game that could have proved tricky', said the coach after the win in Fuenlabrada.
Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo gave his thoughts on the team's win against Carplus Fuenlabrada on round 24 of the league: "We played against a team that was in need and we started in the right way, we were solid, respectful of the game, of our opponents and of ourselves. We built up a good lead in the first quarter. We performed well, we were solid for most of the game, we made good shooting opportunities and we played well in attack. We also defended very well in the first half and then the game became open".
"I'm happy because some players have contributed a lot. Having had such a busy month, with so much strain, we responded well to a game that could have proved tricky. We got through it comfortably, calmly. It's time to focus on the next one, we're not stopping".
Team play
"We try to be strong as a team and that means that some players stand out on some days and others on others. It's about building a solid team, irrespective of who's on the pitch. We have grasped the team game well and we put in a good performance. We're still on a good competitive level".

"They're two very demanding competitions, very lengthy and you have to keep everyone sharp. It's important to improve our solidity. Today other players who don't play so often have had their turn. People are ready to contribute when they're asked to do so. The team is aware that we all need each other and that when one player is out, his team-mate will play well.
