Chus Mateo: "We're playing well and I like to see how the team is working together"

Chus Mateo and Walter Tavares analysed Real Madrid's win at Red Star Belgrade. After the game, the coach said: "We were able to get back into the game after a bad start. We had a lot of turnovers that allowed them to run and get a foothold. When we levelled the score in the first half it was because we were much better in defence and that continued in the rest of the game. We only allowed them 38 points in three quarters and we understood much better how we had to share the ball. We gave 22 assists, although our problem today was rebounding and turnovers. It's not easy to win here. All five of their wins have been at home. I'm very proud of the effort my players put in."
"We are playing well and I like to see how the team works together every game. The credit goes to the players. We are together in defence and in offence and moving the ball well. I have great players who forgo individual flair for the good of the team."
Mindset
"Our team is very competitive, ambitious and hungry. Every player tries to give their best in every training session. But today's game is in the past and we have to think about the next one and so on until the end. Last year we won the title and this year we want to do it again."
Tavares: "We were focused"
"We started a bit off the pace, but then we were focused and in the second quarter we defended and communicated well with each other. We have a good team and when we pass the ball to each other and control the rebound, it helps us to run and feel confident. We know what we have to do."

"It has a lot of merit. We have to stay focused and not think about how many wins we have managed. We're only thinking about qualifying for the playoffs. We have to keep fighting because we haven't achieved our objective yet. This victory helps us to gain confidence because it was away and in the Euroleague winning away is always more complicated."
