Chus Mateo: “We're expecting a tough game against Olympiacos”
'We face a really demanding schedule and have to adapt to it,' added the Real Madrid coach.
Chus Mateo offered his thoughts to the media ahead of the EuroLeague Round 3 contest between Real Madrid and Olympiacos. The madridista coach had the following to say: “Olympiacos is a team that has had the same core group of players and coach for a long time now. They have got some things that come as second nature in offence and defense that give them a solidity that other teams simply do not have. it is a difficult team to beat and they move the ball around well and get into good shooting positions. We're expecting a tough game.”
“We’ll have to look at at how the minutes have been shared out, although the most important thing is that we win the game. This is the calendar that we have been handed, it's very challenging and we just have to adapt to it. There are good vibes within the team. The team needs to make sure that it is well placed when it comes to the final run-in. in terms of the absentees, there are no new players to add to the list.”
Assessment of team’s work
“We have to see the areas where we can improve and work on to give the team a clearer identity. I'm pleased with the work that we've put in. We need to improve in many areas, but we need to keep our balance and be loyal to ourselves.”
Benzema crowned Ballon d’Or
“I want to congratulate Benzema. He's a genius and deserves it. All I'd say to my players is that they need to work as hard as they are.”
