Chus Mateo: 'We understood that we had to be patient at the end'
NEWS.
Chus Mateo and Gabriel Deck analysed Real Madrid's win over Barça in the Clásico on EuroLeague game day five. The coach said in the WiZInk Center press room: "It was a very even game. They came out with a very good mentality and it was difficult for us. We were very anxious to win very early and the games last 40 minutes. When we started to execute a little bit better, especially in the third quarter, we built up a 14-point lead, the same as they had in the first quarter."

"We didn't play well or beautifully, we are playing better and I think people are enjoying wacthing us but today was not a fun game, it was tense, with both teams wanting to win and I think we understood well that we had to be a bit patient at the end."

Deck: "We were focused in the last few minutes"
"We were focused in the last few minutes, we knew they could come back at any moment but we managed to pull off the win. In the second half we came out with a different attitude and a different mindset to the first half, when we came out a little bit asleep."
"I'd like to highlight the mentality and the change of mindset with which the team came out in the second half, because it was the key to achieving a victory that leaves us as sole leaders in the Euroleague."
