Chus Mateo: “We have to be ready to play at a very tough court”
“Having clinched home-court advantage is extremely positive but we have to fight all we can to win our remaining games', said Poirier ahead of the clash with Partizan.
Chus Mateo and Poirier spoke to the press in the build-up to Partizan-Real Madrid on EuroLeague matchday 32 Friday, 8:30pm CEST. The coach reflected on the game at the Stark Arena in Belgrade: "We have to be strong in defense and expect a team who make games physical and high-energy, especially at home. We have to be ready to play at a very tough court”.
“To have secured home-court advantage with three games to go in a EuroLeague campaign that has been so hard-fought and with so many big teams not having qualifying for the playoffs yet, reflects very well on the job we've done so far and how we've kept picking up wins”.
Poirier: “It's a good test ahead of the playoffs”
“We're in for a tough match, we're going to a difficult court in front of 20,000 fans who really get behind Partizan. It's really important that we give a good account of ourselves against a team we may end up facing in the playoffs. It's a good test and if we win it, it will only add to our confidence that we can go and play at any tough place on the road".
“Having clinched home-court advantage is extremely positive but now we have to compete to the best of our ability in the remainder of the Regular Season and fight to win every game. That is the best way to prepare for what's to come. We have to stick together in offense and defense, avoid turnovers and share the ball around, which is exactly what we did against Fenerbahçe yesterday. When we play like that, we're a difficult team to beat”.
