Chus Mateo: “We have to be mentally strong and focussed”
NEWS.
Real Madrid coach, Chus Mateo, spoke ahead of the team’s game against Gran Canaria, on matchday 15 of the Liga ACB Sunday, 12.30pm CET: “It's a difficult game against a team that's doing very well and is on a good run in the league. They're a very complete side and we have to be on guard.'

“They have good players, with two experienced point guards, who control the team's tempo very well; on the outside, they have prolific scorers like Slaughter and Benite; and on the inside, Inglis and Salvó; and centers who can counterattack and open up the court and shoot really well.”

No time to rest
“The fixture list is what it is. There’s very little time between games, less than 40 hours with Maccabi. We played well and we got the win, but then you have another tough game coming up, like the one against Gran Canaria. We have to be mentally strong and focused, regardless of whether we’re at home or away. All we do is think about the next game so we can keep focused.”

The team’s work rate
“The important thing is that all the players are in the team. There’re some who are out but others are making up for their absences. We try to ensure that the team’s strong, not only individual players. We want it to be reflected in the team's collective play.”
