Chus Mateo: “This result shows the character and energy this team has'
NEWS.
Real Madrid prevailed on their visit to Monbus Obradoiro in round 21 of the league. Chus Mateo and Abalde gave their thoughts on the game after the win. The coach said: 'We've won a very important match on a difficult court to win on. This result shows the character and energy this team has shown in a tough week. We got off to a very good start and stayed very focused. We were capable of absorbing some of the absences, such as Tavares'.

'I'm proud of this deserved victory. We knew that Obradoiro was capable of getting into the game and they did, but they couldn't quite make it and we were able to bounce back'.

Strengths in the squad
'We've got a lot of strength in the squad and we're looking to do our best to make it happen. We go out and try to win the games without thinking about the absentees. We work as a team and right from the first game we consider the team to be a unit'.

Defensive work
'We found free shooting opportunities and we successfully defended against a team that shoots very well from three-point range. I'm happy as this was a complicated test given that we had to defend a team with very good pivots'.

Abalde: 'We put up a great fight at the end of the game'
'We have a very busy schedule of games and against a very high level. We're happy to get the win because the games are tough here and the whole team performed well. We put up a great fight at the end of the game'.

'We were aware that they would push hard because they're very strong at home. We had a good first half, but then we were able to hold them off. They're a good team and have been doing well for years, but we were ready for them'.

Schedule
'We need to focus on every game as the fixture list doesn't give us time to think about where we are in the standings. We've got six games in two weeks now and every game is going to be a challenge'.
