Chus Mateo: “The team put up a strong collective performance”
NEWS.
Chus Mateo and Facundo Campazzo gave their thoughts on Real Madrid's win on Bàsquet Girona's court. The coach explained in the press conference: "That's seven wins in seven games but we haven't even played 10% of the competition. It's great to start well because it boosts confidence and it's always better to build on a win, but we can't kid ourselves: we're just getting started".

"We must carry on working with confidence and determination, without believing that we're better than anyone else because that's not the truth. We have to work hard every day and I believe that if we have this humble attitude and know how to dig deep, we can go a long way. I want to take it one step at a time".

"I'm happy with the win on a difficult court and against a team that is very tough to beat and that will fight very hard. We had a lot of respect for Girona as they're a team that plays very good basketball, with their own unique style. We knew how to defend against a dangerous offensive team. It was important to get on top of the game early so as not to have to suffer too much at the end".
"The team delivered a great team performance, after a very tough battle against Baskonia in the Euroleague. As we're missing some important players, it is important for the team to realise that we can overcome these problems together".

Campazzo: "We were very solid"
" We're pleased, we put in a great performance and managed to achieve our objective of defending and playing well after the Euroleague game. We were able to lower their possessions, they've been scoring more than 90 points, they were uncomfortable and we punished their mistakes properly with a good offence. We were very solid in offence and defence".

Individual performance
"I try to bring my energy to the team, to get them to play, to defend hard and to leave everything on every ball. Those are the little details I put first".
