Chus Mateo: 'The levels of ambition and hunger are high and we never give up on a game'
'Valencia Basket are one of the most competitive teams in the EuroLeague,' added the coach.
Chus Mateo spoke to the press in the build-up to Valencia Basket-Real Madrid on EuroLeague matchday eight Tuesday, 8:30pm CET. The coach reflected on the game: “Having not lost yet shows we're doing a great job. It's very impressive not to have slipped up in 17 competitive games. The team's levels of ambition and hunger are high and we never give up on a game."
“This week will be hugely demanding. We have to be ready and I hope we can keep up this routine of winning tough games."
Valencia Basket
“It's a very difficult match-up. Valencia is a hard place to go, they're showing some extraordinary play and they are one of the most competitive teams in the EuroLeague. They're able to concede very few points and they rebound well thanks to their physicality."
Key elements in defense
“Valencia Basket don't give anything up to the opposition, they have guys who understand their defensive plays perfectly and their recovery numbers are really high. They really punish their opponents there and they run hard in every match. The Spanish teams in the EuroLeague will know you better and they won't be at all afraid of facing Madrid”.
