Chus Mateo and Walter Tavares spoke to the press on the eve of the clash between Real Madrid and Monaco in EuroLeague matchday nine Thursday, 9:00pm CET. The coach discussed the match-up at the WiZink Center: “Monaco is another physical team loaded with individual talent and the ability to beat players. They have a hugely experienced squad and we'll have to play with real energy. That same energy we showed against Bilbao and Valencia, two teams who have demanded a lot of us physically but who we were able to overcome thanks to our hard work. We have to keep up the hard work because that will be the key to continuing our good form.'

“We're doing a good job but I think the most important thing is the mentality we've shown, the desire to win the next game regardless of what has happened in the previous ones.'

“The link between the team and our fans is a beautiful thing. We can't let them down and we hope they can give us a hand once again. We'll need their help because we're up against a very good team.'
Tavares: “We have to be completely focused”
“After playing Valencia Basket, we now face another very strong team, especially offensively, and they will make life hard for us. Monaco have a lot of points in them and we'll have to be completely focused. I think this game will be won on defense, where we'll have to be very active and help each other out even more than usual, because the opposition have real individual talent and the ability to beat a man one-on-one.'

“In offense we'll have to keep sharing the ball around as we have done, avoid turnovers, be aggressive and ready for a tough clash. We know we'll have to fight to the end. We know what the double-headers are like and it's important to be mentally strong if we want to come through these games.'
