Chus Mateo: “It was a very complete performance right from the start'
“Poirier is full of confidence and he has to feel important”, said the coach after the win over UCAM Murcia.
Chus Mateo analysed the victory against UCAM Murcia on matchday eight of the Liga ACB: “We played well right from the start both in attack and defence. We were focussed so we didn’t let their shooters, like Trice and McFadden, hurt us. Things went quite well for us and it was a very complete performance. We were able to give everybody playing time and my players showed the desire that we’re looking for”.
“We played well in both halves. The team worked well and managed to dictate the play. The defence was solid and that made it difficult for the opposition to score. We only conceded 22 points in the first half”.
Points from in the paint
“We should never be in any doubt and when we have to dig deep, we know how to do it. It’s essential for us to score in the paint before we do so from the three-point line. We played extremely well today”.
On Poirier’s display
“We’re seeing the Poirier that everyone wants to see, because he’s full of confidence. He has to feel he’s as important as Tavares. Both players have to keep going in this direction. Cornelie and Ndiaye have also been performing well. Sergio Rodríguez did well, but we didn’t want to risk him too much. I don’t want to force him”.
