Chus Mateo: “It came down to the small details”
NEWS.
Chus Mateo and Walter Tavares analysed the clash against Olympiacos, on matchday three of the EuroLeague. The coach had the following to say: “It was an evenly balanced game, every point mattered, against a solid team with a lot of quality. They‘ve started the competition really well. They’ve been playing together for years, they know each other really well and at the end of the day the small details have probably swung the victory in their favour. We fought until the end. We have to continue in this direction, but we’re frustrated about losing at home”.

“When we all pull together we can defend well. We lost too many rebounds and loose balls that went their way. But those are the details that make the difference. Ultimately it was decided by these. That difference is evident in such close games”.

Positive aspects
“We have to be capable, at any given moment, of bringing positive things to the team. We can play with a lot of players and we’re not dependent on anyone. We place a lot of importance on passing, assists and turnovers. Today we had 23 assists, we scored from the perimeter against a team that defends very well and closes you down. We passed the ball well at times and were able to find open shots. We keep taking steps in that direction. It's a shame we lost a game that could have been ours”.

Tavares: “We fought until the end
“We slipped up on details that we had to get right, but we fought until the end to snatch the win. Now we have to improve, learn from this and tackle the next game and move on. When a tough moment like this comes, we have to do things better”.
