Chus Mateo: 'I'm quite happy with the first half of the season'
'We have to maintain the intensity and we need to be ambitious', added the madridista coach.
Chus Mateo gave his thoughts on Real Madrid's win over Breogán in round 17 of the Endesa League during a press conference. The coach said: 'I'm quite happy with the first half of the season as we did a good job. We have to look to continue improving every day and keep getting better. We put in a pretty good performance'.
'There were times when Breogán gave us a tough time. It's hard to keep the intensity up with a 29-point lead. It's not easy having played 48 hours earlier and doing it now and maintaining the intensity'.
Keys to the performance
'It was a good game at home and it sees us finish top in the Regular Season. We have to maintain the intensity and we need to be ambitious. Our objective is to aim to be better every day. After half-time we came out strong and built up a 29-point lead, but we took our foot off the gas at the end'.
Roster
'We've got a large roster, meaning that we don't find it too difficult when we're missing players. We're trying to tackle the important moments of each competition in a better way. We're testing things and are positioning ourselves in each tournament'.
Copa del Rey
'The quarter-final will be a tough one, so if we make it through, we'll have a day's rest. Every team playing in the cup will be playing at such an impressive level that we just have to focus on the first game'.
