Chus Mateo: “I'm proud of the players'
“It has been an extraordinary season and we gave it everything,' underlined the coach following game three of the final.
Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo spoke to the press following game three of the League final against Barça: “Maintaining such a high level throughout the season is really tough. They are deserved winners but we fought until the very end. All I can say is how proud I feel of the efforts these players have made because they have been fantastic all year.'
“It's been an extraordinary season, we have fought for absolutely everything, we have fought on every front and made it pretty much to the end. I cannot fault the effort. When we reflect there will be elements we're not quite so proud of but overall I'd give this season a 9.5 out of 10.'
“I try to understand what my profession entails and I try and lead by example. In sport, you have to know how to win and how to lose and although it hurts right now, we have to congratulate the champions, who have played better than us. We tried to give it our very best and when you do that, there is nothing more you can ask. I'm very proud of my players and of the fans.'
