Chus Mateo: “They got too many easy baskets against us"
"It was the end of the game, but it's true that having both of your fives go out with ten fouls between the two of them isn't normal", said the coach
Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo spoke following the Clásico at the Palau. The coach had this to say about the league round 28 game: "It wasn't our best performance. We were very poor in the first quarter in terms of understanding how to play against Barcelona. We lost the ball six times. We improved that aspect in the other three quarters, but we let them run and play at the pace they wanted. That up and down paid off for them. They got too many easy baskets against us".
"We got better, we fought back and in the second quarter we tried to get back into the game. We closed a gap that was big and almost leveled the game. We weren't able to finish that job".
Tavares and Poirier out of the game
"It was the end of the game, but it's true that having both of your fives go out with ten fouls between the two of them isn't normal. It's a contact game, where that happens sometimes and that's what happened. I don't like to talk too much about what is or isn't called. It's just how it was and we have to have the resources to keep going even if you don't have fives".
