Chus Mateo analysed Real Madrid’s victory over Virtus Bologna at the WiZink Center: “We made a massive defensive effort in the third quarter and that was the decisive factor in gaining distance against players of unquestionable quality such as Shengelia, Belinelli and Zizic. We upped our energy and intensity in the third quarter, with great offensive flashes and by moving the ball well. That allowed us to reach 98 points, which is not easy in this competition.”

“It was a deserved victory for my players and I'd like to give a special mention to Llull's 1,100 appearances. It's amazing what he's doing at this club. He had a small tear in his abductor and was willing to play injured. That's what players who truly embrace the club and give everything they have to do to win a game do. He deserves a lot of credit for the history he is making at the club.”

Maximum demand
“This competition is really demanding. That's why when you give all your energy regardless of the mistakes you can get through it. My players are making a massive effort with so many minutes, but we're going to overcome this with the return of the injured players, who will give us the freshness to compete in every game from start to finish.”
