Causeur spoke to the media a few hours before the first clash of the league final against Barcelona 9pm CET. The Frenchman, who turns 36, had the following to say: “I hope we can win today on my birthday. It'd be nice. You always wish for good things on birthdays and I'm delighted to be defending the Real Madrid jersey for another year. It's the start of a final and I hope it brings me luck.”

Third final of the season
“It's nice and you always want to end up as winner. It would be the finishing touch to the season. However, if you don't win it won't wipe out the season. The team is ready to go into the final against the league leaders. We know it's going to be very tough. They have home court advantage but we're in very good form.”

On his form
“These are matches that I like and I hope to contribute my two cents to the team and, above all, to get the victory, which ultimately what makes me most proud is to win trophies. That's what we all want.”
Opposition
“They had a fantastic series against Unicaja. They've been very solid, they always are, but they've been very focused in the two games in Malaga. They're confident and everyone is contributing. They're a team in very good form and we'll have to perform very well to win. I don't think Mirotic's situation will influence the final. I don't like to talk about other players' personal issues. We all have social media and we've seen what happened. I think we have to respect the player and Barcelona. It's his issue and we're focused on ourselves.”

Rich vein of form in final stretch
“The roles in the team are now better defined. We have had injuries throughout the season and the players have to find each other and define our roles. We always say that we learn a lot more from defeats but also from victories. I think that winning the EuroLeague and all these victories have boosted our confidence. We have to continue in the same line, focus on what we do and be very focused.”
