It was on 27 September 2015 that Real Madrid won their fifth Intercontinental Basketball Cup. In the second game of the final in Sao Paulo, our team beat Bauru Basket of Brazil 91-79 with Llull as MVP. This victory led the team coached by Laso to a record number of titles, winning the Euroleague, League, Copa del Rey, Supercopa and Intercontinental Cup.
The final was played over two legs. In the first, the Brazilians surprised Real Madrid by winning 91-90. Our team had to win by more than one point in the second game to be champions. Despite the absence of Rudy and Taylor, they managed the victory led by Carroll (22), Llull (21 points), Thompkins (17) and Ayón (15 rebounds), achieving a 12-point difference. Just a year earlier, Real Madrid had won the Supercopa, the first of five titles that season.
