Today marks 58 years since Real Madrid's basketball team lifted their 10th Copa de España. On 19 June 1966, our team got the better of Joventut in the final held in Terrasa. The Catalan outfit dominated the first half, heading into the break with a nine-point lead (26-35). But Real Madrid turned the game around after the restart to complete an impressive comeback at 62-61.
Luyk, with 24 points and Moncho Monsalve, with 19, were the standout performers as Real Madrid clinched a tenth Cup crown. The squad was coached by Robert Busnel and also clinched the 1965/66 League title.
