Rudy Fernández has broken the all-time record for the most appearances for the Spanish national basketball team. In the game against Latvia, the captain made his 254th appearance for Spain, moving ahead of Juan Carlos Navarro at the top of the ranking.

The madridista forward reaches the milestone after 19 years playing for his country, having made his debut back on 23 July 2004 against Croatia. Since then, he has gone on to become a national team legend, clinching 11 medals: 6 gold World Cups 2006 and 2019 and European Championships 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2022, 3 Silver Olympic Games 2008 and 2012 and European 2007 and 2 Bronze Olympic Games 2016 and European 2013.

This is not Rudy's only record at the World Cup, either. The opening game against the Ivory Coast saw him become the Spaniard to have played in the most World Cup tournaments ever, with five.
