Monbus Obradoiro-Real Madrid: all out to keep up league unbeaten away run
The leaders, who have won all five of their away games, face a tough trip to Santiago de Compostela on Liga game 14 (8:45pm CET).
Real Madrid will put their unbeaten record away from the WiZink Center to the test when they travel to the difficult Fontes do Sar to face Monbus Obradoiro in the 14th round of LaLiga. Chus Mateo's team, sole leaders with two more wins than Unicaja, are the best away team in the league with a balance of five wins and no defeats. If they win today, this will be the year with the most wins in our history.
Our team has won in Manresa, Girona, Tenerife, Granada and Bilbao. Today they want to continue their winning streak in Santiago de Compostela after having played the last four league games at the WiZink Center. This will be the first outing since the victory against Bilbao Basket more than a month ago. Monbus Obradoiro will be a tough nut to crack. They are at the bottom of the table but in front of their home fans they are proving to be very strong. Of their five wins, four have been on their home court, where they have lost to teams like Valencia Basket or Baskonia. In addition, they are better rested for the game because Real Madrid played and won two days ago against Bayern in the Euroleague.
The Whites are dominating most of the statistics in the ACB and their superiority is reflected in the 113.5 average PIR, 11 more than the second in this respect. The rest do not reach the hundred mark. We will have to pay attention to the physical, point-scoring perimeter of Howard, Washington, Mendoza and Thomas Scrubb. They are also good at rebounding with Pustovyi and Tinkle, and have the most fouls in the competition. Madrid, which has the best offence with an average of 91.4 points, will have to create problems for a Compostela defence that concedes 82 points per game.
Gunning for the record
With last Thursday's win over Bayern in the EuroLeague, Real Madrid equalled the record number of wins in a year, the 68 they achieved in 2019. They still have six games to go, but today will be their first chance to break that record. After this game, we will face a very tough week with a EuroLeague double-header (Red Star away and Partizan at home) plus another league game (Joventut away).
