42nd anniversary of the basketball team's seventh European Cup
Real Madrid beat Maccabi in the final in Berlin (89-85).
On 27 March 1980, Real Madrid's basketball team clinched their seventh European Cup. Our boys beat Maccabi in the final in Berlin 89-85. Two years on from lifting La Sexta, the madridistas were crowned continental champions once again. The team led by Lolo Sainz sealed a double that season, having also won the League.
Real Madrid and Maccabi made the final having finished in the top two positions in the Regular Season with 7 wins and 3 defeats. Led by Rullán 27 points and Meister 21, the Whites dominated the game 48-40 at the break and 89-85 at the end to clinch the title. Following La Séptima, Real Madrid would go on to win three more European Cups to become the most decorated club on the continent.
