38 years since club’s 24th basketball league title

Today marks the 38th anniversary of Real Madrid's 24th basketball league title. Lolo Sainz's charges were crowned champions after edging out Joventut 91-83 in the third and final game of the final series. This was Real Madrid's second consecutive title since the creation of this new format in the 1983-84 season. The Whites completed the first two phases with a record of 27 wins from 28 matches. They beat Estudiantes in the quarter-finals and Licor 43 in the semi-finals. With the series tied at 1-1 in the final series against Joventut, the madridistas powered on to glory. That team comprised legendary players like Fernando Martín, Iturriaga, Corbalán, Romay, Rullán and the Americans Brian Jackson and Wayne Robinson.
