30 years since the third FIBA Saporta Cup
NEWS.
Today marks 30 years since Real Madrid got their hands on their third FIBA Saporta Cup. On 17 March 1992, the basketball team came out on top in a hard-fought final with PAOK thanks to Ricky Brown's decisive basket with just two seconds left on the clock 65-63. The team led by Clifford Luyk lifted the trophy in the French city of Nantes.

Our team looked to have all but won the final in the first half, arriving at the break with a 15-point lead 43-28. However, the Greek side stepped it up a level in the second half and managed to bring the scores back level 63-63 with just ten seconds left to play. They even had the possession which could have won them the game but a spectacular final play by Brown saw him steal the ball and clinch the Saporta Cup for the madridistas.

Road to the final
Real Madrid had previously beaten Pro-Specs EBBC in the first round, got the better of Union Olimpija, Pau Orthez, Panionios, Benfica and Hapoel Galil Elyon in the quarter-final mini-league and seen off Glaxo Verona in the semis.
