Real Madrid-Valencia Basket: Whites going for 11th Super Cup
Scariolo's side will be looking to win their first trophy of the season and face new opponents in the final (7 pm CEST).
Real Madrid will face Valencia Basket this evening at the Martín Carpena in Málaga for the first official trophy of the season: the 2025 Endesa Super Cup. It will be the first time these two teams have met in the final and a repeat of last season's League play-off final, between the most successful team in the competition with 10 trophies (six of them during the previous seven years) and a Valencia side looking for their second trophy after winning in 2017.
The Whites are the masters of this competition, especially in the last decade. Today they will be playing their eighth consecutive final. They have not missed out on the trophy since 2017. For Valencia, it will be their third (2010 and 2017, the latter year they won the title). Both teams contested last season's title, with Real Madrid winning the League final in commanding fashion by 3-0, and today they will play for the first title of this season. This rivalry will see another chapter unfold at the Martín Carpena and, at least this year, there will be four more: in the League and the EuroLeague.
Madrid enjoyed a successful start to the season with a narrow victory in the semi-finals against tough opponents La Laguna Tenerife (72-71). There were many positives to take from the first official match: intensity in play, defence, multiple offensive reserves and great depth on the bench. Llull, Deck, and Feliz were the standout performers.
EuroLeague opposition
Meanwhile, Valencia Basket defeated Unicaja in the other semi-final (87-93), showing their potential despite numerous major absences. Pedro Martínez's team has been bolstered to return to the elite in Europe with top-level players such as Darius Thompson, Kameron Taylor, Sako and Moore, who complete one of the largest squads in the ACB.
