Unicaja-Real Madrid: final game ahead of the Copa del Rey

Real Madrid are in for a tough test at the Martín Carpena against Unicaja de Málaga this evening, just 4 days out from their Copa del Rey opener in Granada on Thursday. Laso's league leaders will be hoping to get back to winning ways and pick up their tenth consecutive win on the road to continue their unbeaten run in the competition away from home.

A potential banana skin for the madridistas. Not just given the opposition, a big team in the form of Unicaja, but also knowing they embark on their Copa del Rey campaign with a quarter-final clash against Río Breogán on Thursday 9:30pm CET. Our boys will also be keen to move on from recent defeats and continue their fine away form in the League, where they have won all 9 outings so far this season. Unicaja missed out on a Copa spot and sit thirteenth with 7 wins and 11 defeats the last three in a row.
The leaders come up against a very different side to the one they beat 79-74 in Madrid on matchday 13, starting with coach Ibon Navarro, who is making his debut on the bench. Other new faces are Mooney at guard and Kravic at center. Jaime Fernández is out for Málaga, while Cole could return. Unicaja are conceding nearly the same number as they score, above 80 points per game. In offense, they are best under the post 55.4% success, although our team would be foolish not to monitor a perimeter full of impressive shooters including Alonso, Bouteille, former madridista Barreiro or the No. 4 Abromaitis, who keeps the court wide open. On the inside, alongside new arrival Kravic are the energetic Guerrero and Nzosa.

Relentless schedule continues for Madrid
Today closes out a third consecutive 3-game week, with what will be a ninth match inside 20 days. Laso, who got Heurtel and Hanga back available on Friday, could become the madridista coach with the most all-time league wins, eclipsing Lolo Sainz's record 361. Our team have won on both of their last two trips to the Martín Carpena and have got the better of Unicaja in all of their last five league meetings.
