Surne Bilbao Basket-Real Madrid: all eyes on a win to stay top of the table

Real Madrid come into their final week of 2022 with two games on the road in 48 hours, both in the Basque Country. The league leaders will be hoping to see out the year with a final win in domestic competition against Surne Bilbao Basket 9:00pm CET, before heading to Vitoria to take on Cazoo Baskonia in the Euroleague. It's a big clash for Chus Mateo's boys, who will be keen to round off the year on a high in the league.

Matchday thirteen gets underway with the table toppers facing the eighth-placed team. The Basques are enjoying an impressive start to the campaign and are likely to give it everything to gift their home fans a last win in 2022. Our team will be hoping to extend the positive dynamic which saw them beat Lenovo Tenerife in the last league match. Bilbao and Real Madrid know each other very well - indeed, they've met 37 times, with 27 wins for our boys.

One of the key elements of today's head-to-head comes in the paint. The Basque outfit create an awful lot of play in there, as well as being the second-best side in terms of blocks. Withey and Kyser are they key men under the basket, both in double digits for PIR. That said, Chus Mateo's lads have been unplayable in the paint of late and certainly have the weapons to stifle their opponents. They lead in total and defensive rebounds, as well as dunks, thanks to players like Tavares, Poirier and Yabusele.

Hot from three
Efforts from the exterior will likely have a real bearing on any madridista victory. Madrid have been on fire in this sense, boasting a 37.8% success rate from the three-point line. Musa tops the charts, alongside Hezonja and Llull. The Bosnian ace, recently named his country's best athlete, is sinking over 50% of his three-point shots. Bilbao aren't too shabby from three either, with players like Hakanson, Adam Smith and Rabaseda in their ranks.
