Real Madrid-Coviran Granada: the leaders look for their 21st straight league win
PREVIEW.Edu Bueno

Real Madrid face the penultimate round of the Regular League with the peace of mind of knowing that they will finish as leaders and will have home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, but with several challenges ahead of them. The first, this afternoon at the Movistar Arena against Coviran Granada. Our team has 25 consecutive wins at home and could equal their best historical streak: the 26 they achieved between the end of 2015 and February 2017. For the Andalusians, it will be one of their final opportunities to avoid relegation.

With their homework completed two rounds ago, Real Madrid await their ACB quarter-final opponent. They will face the eighth-ranked team, currently occupied by Baskonia, but with four other teams in the running: Barcelona, Joventut, Gran Canaria and Manresa. In their path is an opponent that is still alive after two consecutive victories, but that must win its two remaining games and hope that Bàsquet Girona loses them in order not to be relegated.

Another incentive for the Madridistas is to complete a perfect second round of all victories, a feat only achieved by the Real Madrid of Lolo Sainz in the 1984/85 season. To do so, they will have to win today and on the last matchday against Casademont Zaragoza away from home. In the first round, the leader won 79-84 in Granada. An evenly matched game that was decided by a 28-15 last quarter score and in which Hezonja (23 points) and Campazzo (15) shone. Today's game will be different. Coviran Granada received reinforcements for the final stretch with several signings, such as Visconti or Griffin, who have arrived with a bang. A team that has gained in offensive capacity with Rousselle, Bamforth and Valtonen in the perimeter, and their talisman Noua, the fifth most valued in the competition (17.3).

Almost a year and two months without losing at home
Real Madrid have made the Movistar Arena an impregnable court in the ACB. Their last defeat was on 31 March last year against Baxi Manresa. Since then, they have won 25 in a row (9 in 2023/24 and 16 in 2024/25), one short of their record. Our team's last home game in the Regular League, aiming to continue the streak.
