Real Madrid-Bitci Baskonia: all out for the second win at the WiZink Center
Laso’s charges will be vying to make it 2-0 in the semi-final series on the day of Carroll’s tribute and ahead of the trip to Vitoria (6pm CET).
Real Madrid go head-to-head with Bitci Baskonia again in what could prove to be a decisive match in the semi-finals. The Whites currently lead 1-0 in the series after emerging victorious from the clash at the WiZink Center less than 48 hours ago, as both sides face each other at the same venue in a bid to secure the second point at stake. Pablo Laso’s charges will be vying to extend their advantage against the Vitoria outfit who have their last chance to steal the home-court advantage. Before the game, a tribute will be paid to Jaycee Carroll, the foreign player who has worn the Madrid shirt the most times 709.
Every matchup comes with its own set of rules, and even more so in a playoff with such a short period of time between each one. But one thing Real Madrid certainly understand is that the game plan they have to follow must match Thursday's second half against a highly competitive and dangerous opponent, who are capable of reversing any situation with their spells of attacking play.
This means that concentration will be essential once again, as will rebounding and three-point shooting. In terms of the latter, our team excelled, ending with 17 three-pointers, which equalled their all-time record in a playoff game and, crucially, with a 50% success rate. Causeur, Rudy and Llull hit eleven of them. The Balearic forward is just two shy of overtaking Rafa Martínez to become the fourth highest three-point shooter in the ACB.
It's all about three-pointers
Baskonia also boast specialists from 6.75m, as they demonstrated the other day. They will be looking to their open game with four outside players to do some damage to Madrid's centers. Not surprisingly, they hold the best 3-point shooting percentage in the competition.
