The most prestigious basketball in Europe gets underway with an exciting match to bring in the 2022-23 campaign. Real Madrid take on Panathinaikos at the OAKA Arena in Athens in a match involving team with a combined 16 European Cups under their belts. Real Madrid is the most successful team in the competition thanks to the 10 titles they have won, versus the Greeks' six. Today is the first stop in the Regular League in search of the Eleventh.

Chus Mateo's side are making up for the absences at the start of the campaign by drawing on the depth of their squad, thanks to the arrival of top-level reinforcements such as Musa, Hezonja, Cornelie and the return of Sergio Rodríguez. Tavares, the best centre and defender from last year's tournament, continues to lead the group. Sergio Llull is another name to watch as our captain looks set to become the player to have played the most Euroleague game, overtaking Felipe Reyes 345.

They come up against a side that has undergone a radical transformation. Dejan Radonjic is the new coach and has brought in nine new faces, including Paris Lee, Wolters, Grigonis, Derrick Williams, Ponitka and Gudaitis. The centre Papagiannis is one of the few players to remain with Papapetrou being the most notable absence. All set for a big game aganist OAKA.
