Baskonia-Real Madrid: the first Euroleague double-header
Our team pays a visit to the Buesa Arena today in a week featuring three games in six days (8:30pm CEST).
Real Madrid have an intense week coming up. Three games in six days and the first Euroleague double-header. Baskonia are the opponents today at the Buesa Arena before hosting Panathinaikos on Thursday and Bàsquet Girona on Sunday at the WiZink Center. Chus Mateo‘s team aim to secure their second win in Europe's top competition this evening in Vitoria against a team with the same record (1-1).
Both sides have won one game, at home against Partizan, and were unable to win on their first outing. Madrid go in search of a first away win on a court that is always a tough one, but where they have managed to win on their last two trips. Last season, they won there in the regular season and in the playoffs, where they clinched their place in the Final Four with a 3-0 win. Campazzo, who is suspended, joins Feliz who is also missing in the point guard position.
Our team boasts the best attack in the Euroleague with 91 points on average, 11.5 more than Baskonia. They are very reliable around the rim with a shooting percentage of almost 70%. They face a new-look opponent, starting with the arrival of Pablo Laso. They now have more muscle with Moneke and, most importantly, with Donta Hall. They still have their big threat on the outside, Marcus Howard, and have brought in a versatile player in the shape of Luwawu-Cabarrot.
Demanding October
The second half of the month sees Real Madrid play a game every two and a half days. Seven in 17 days. We will then play two games next week at the WiZink Center against Estrella Roja (Thursday 24) and Baxi Manresa (Sunday 27), before another Euroleague double-header, but this time away against Olympiacos (Tuesday 29) and Maccabi (Thursday 31).
