Real Madrid head to the Astroballe de Villeurbanne to start out on a tough month of March that's sure to be decisive in the Euroleague play-off race. Tonight's game will be the first of eight in the competition this month 12 in total. Chus Mateo's team come into it on the back of a four-match winning run that they will hope to add to that streak against Asvel this evening to stay in the fight for top spot.

With nine games to go until the end of the Regular Season Madrid have 10 due to the postponed clash with Anadolu Efes, our team lie second in the table, one win behind Olympiacos having also played a game less. It's an incredibly hard-fought campaign, with just five wins separating the top eleven teams. The madridistas are well placed going into the closing stretch, coming into this match having won 7 of the 8 games played so far this year. Their opposition have lost four in a row, though only lost at the very last to Anadolu Efes last time out 89-90.
But the French are a dangerous team, especially on their home court. They have experienced players and like the physical game. De Colo is their main threat on the perimeter, with Dee Bost, Lighty and Mathews completing a strong line-up. On the inside, Fall 2.21m dominates their game. Alongside him, former Madrid player Tyus, both a good rebounder and defender. Madrid has the second-best defence in the Euroleague 77.1 points and is one of the strongest in attack 84.5. This will be the tenth time they have met in the competition, with a favourable 8-1 record for Madrid, who have won the last seven meetings against the French side.

Musa and Deck
Both players are in great form and have been key in Madrid's run of four consecutive EuroLeague victories Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Monaco and Zalgiris. Deck averages 13.5 points and 18.5 index rating points and Musa 15.2 and 18.2. But Chus Mateo's team is first and foremost just that. In the first round game, which we won 92-73 at the WiZink Center, seven players achieved double digits in scoring, led by Poirier. We did it again in our last game, this time with Musa leading the way.
