Enrique Sánchez, executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation, and Iker Casillas, deputy director general, welcomed Cristina Henríquez de Luna, president and CEO of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in Spain and Guillermo de Juan, European vice-president of the pharmaceutical company, to Real Madrid City to renew the collaboration agreement between GSK and the Foundation.
The sponsorship deal has covered different areas helping to promote healthy habits from childhood and raise awareness since it began in 2018. Thanks to the agreement, the pharmaceutical company funds the sporting practice scholarships for young people suffering from neuromuscular or respiratory illnesses related to their disabilities at the inclusive social sports school run alongside the Fundación Ana Carolina Díez-Mahou and Down Madrid. Furthermore, for the third year in a row, it is helping to promote sporting practice among young people with asthma across all Real Madrid Foundation social sports schools.
Cristina Henríquez de Luna reflected: “The deal we're signing is proof that together we're stronger and we can go further when it comes to promoting health and wellbeing, breaking down barriers and reaching new goals". Meanwhile, Iker Casillas added, "Health and educational sport are areas which can improve so many lives for the long term".
