'The Blond Arrow' received the award on 24 December 1989 in recognition of his career.On 24 December 1989, Alfredo Di Stéfano was presented with the Super Ballon d'Or. Having receiving more votes than Cruyff and Platini, France Football magazine awarded the accolade to the Real Madrid legend in recognition of his phenomenal career. 26 years on and The Blond Arrow is still the only footballer to have ever win this award.
