Real Madrid-Bàsquet Girona: gunning for a third win in six days
Following wins over Maccabi and Asvel, the league leaders wrap up their week at the WiZink Center (12:30pm CET).

Real Madrid go in search of a full house of wins this week at the WiZink Center, following wins over Maccabi and Asvel in the EuroLeague double-header. Today they host Bàsquet Girona in the league, where they are in the lead and will be looking for their eighteenth win. It will be the penultimate game in the competition before the Copa del Rey break.
Madrid's objective is to be in pole position for the game that will start in Malaga on 15 February ( they visit Río Breogán next Sunday). Today's game will be another test to calibrate our physical condition after playing two games in less than 48 hours, making it three in six days. In addition, we will face a Bàsquet Girona that goes into the game with renewed confidence and wind in their sails after breaking a streak of seven consecutive defeats, on the very day that Katsikaris would make his debut as coach.
Keys
Madrid is on very good attacking form. They are the best in the league with an average of almost 90 points. Focusing on that will be key because the visitors have one of their weakest points at the back (they concede 85.1). With Llull and Tavares sidelined, Campazzo, Musa, Hezonja and Yabusele have been the offensive focal points, all in double figures in scoring. Bàsquet Girona is, along with our team, one of the teams that shoots the most three-pointers. Iroegbu is one of the best scorers in the competition. They also stand out for their rebounding, the second best in LaLiga. A factor that Madrid will have to control. In addition, they have a solid Spanish block with Colom, Sergi Martínez and company.
Recent encounters
The first meeting between the two teams was in last season's Regular League with Madrid winning 88-94 away. Since then, they have met on two more occasions with Madrid winning both. One of which took place at the WiZik Center (89-70) and the other in the first round of this season in Girona (74-93). A game in which we finished with seven players in double digits in PIR. The fourth chapter of a novel rivalry takes place today.
