Peter and Álvaro Martín were on target for the academy team, who remain in second place.

Real Madrid Castilla earned a hard-fought three points at the Nuevo Vivero stadium in Badajoz. Peter put Raúl’s men ahead in the 38th minute with a fine header that went in off the post and Álvaro Martín sealed the three points on 85’ when he fired in a fierce left-footed drive from the edge of the box. The Whites’ third win on the bounce keeps them in second place in the table, just two points off the top.

The game’s first opening fell to Dotor who went close with a long-range strike (7). Six minutes later, Nico Paz almost found a way through with an effort on the volley. Then the forward was involved again in the 18th minute after good link-up play with Álvaro Martín, but the Badajoz goalkeeper denied him. With the hour-mark approaching, Álvaro Martín fired a free-kick in which skimmed the post. The madridistas were rewarded for their efforts on 38’, when Peter was picked out by Rafa Marín from the left wing, he brought the ball down neatly on his chest and fired it in off the far post to make it 0-1.

After the re-start, Badajoz took the game to Castilla and carved out two clear-cut chances in a row, but De Luis came to his side’s rescue on both occasions. The hosts continued to go in search of an equaliser, and, on the hour-mark, Marvel was forced into a goal-line clearance to turn away a header from a corner kick. In the final ten minutes of play, Álvaro almost doubled the visitors’ lead after a fine solo run and shot that was saved by the keeper (81’). Four minutes later, the homegrown striker beat several defenders before feeding Álvaro Martín who sealed the three points with a fierce drive from the edge of the area.
